We know that, even though the USA is far ahead when it comes to technology, it runs behind The Netherlands when implementing energy efficiences on a individual basis.
One of my favorite things to do in a new home is decrease the energy usage. This time it was huge!!! The average U.S. residential customer uses approximately 909 kWh per month of energy, or around 10,909 kWh per year compared with approximately 290 kWh per month of energy, or around 3,500 kWh per year in The Netherlands.
What I did, I changed all the bulbs with LED.
- 6TL tubes of 55W each into 6TL LED tubes of 24W each.
- 16 outside spotlights of 100W each into 16 outside LED of 11w each.
- 60 candle flame lights of 60W each into 60 LED of 4.5w each.
- 45 bulb lights of 60W each into 45 LED of 4.5w each.
(March 2021, added the direct links to Amazon)
All the LED bulbs have 2700K (kelvin) color to keep the traditional 'warm' feeling.
Result usage:
Previous: 8230W per hour
New: 792.5W per hour
We decreased our power usage by a factor 10!!!! And thus our energy bill!!! Of course the above is only if all lights are on but it is major decrease anyway:-)
