Yesterday we met with our contractor and his son. Martijn already met them when he was here last winter. We walked around the property while discussing and unfolding our plans for the B&B. Although we did sent an email a couple of weeks ago with the highlights of our plans, it is different now being here. A lot of our plans can be done, and probably also within budget. However, renovating the old tabacco/tenant house as our own living space, is totally not cost efficient and so we throw these plans out of the window. The big question now is where will we live when the B&B is fully occupied? We gave the contractor some other suggestions and he promised to look into them.
Hopefully he will get back to us asap.
The contractor's son is very into the history of the house. As kid he came here often to help his dad when construction work had to be done on the home. He told us a very interesting story about a murder, but this is for later. He also showed us the carving in the glass windows in the back of the house, upstairs, with names and dates of probably girls that went to school here in the Sunnyside School for girls. So there is a Lizzy, and someone carved 'class of 1894'. I made some pictures, maby you can read what is written?
