We applied for a Highway Marker for The Sunny Side School for Young Ladies and last week we got approved by the Board of the DHR Virginia.

They decided that the sisters Carrington, who founded the Sunnyside School in 1872, significantly contributed to giving young Southern women the chance to receive proper education.

We are very pleased because now this part of Sunnysides history will be rememberd by generations to come. But we couldn't have done this without the help of a local historian, Linda Pulliam. So thank you Linda.

And now we have to wait untill the final tekst for the Marker is written by the DHR. This is expected end of March coming year.
