Christmas breakfast with a Dutch Touch!

This is our first year we are open with Christmas and so we are looking into what Dutch breakfast traditions we are going to serve our guests on the morning of Christmas.

As you might know by now, the Dutch love to eat bread: in the morning, with lunch and sometimes even for dinner. We love it so much that we have a different bread for special occasions like for Christmas we have the 'Kerststol'! This holiday bread is an oval shaped bread with dried fruits (and nuts), filled with almond paste (amandelspijs) in the middle. I have never made it before because you can get it in The Netherlands during Christmas in every bakery and store.

I didn't even have a recipe, but my mom did and some other Dutch folks. I decided to use different recipes and this way created my own Kerststol. Also, the almond paste is homemade. I do think this first try turned out the way it should look like. According to Martijn, who has always the honors to try everything I bake first, it tastes like it should be.

But I'll probably give it one or more tries to make it perfect!

We do have some availability for Christmas, so book now, and enjoy Christmas with a Dutch Touch!
