Yes we have given the big old White Oak in the backyard a name: Big Berta. She is almost 50 ft high, 80 ft wide in the crown and almost 17 ft thick. We calculated that she must be more then 300 years old.
Today it was time to let the rest of the world know that this beautiful tree exists and is doing great and so we registered her with the Virginia Big Tree Program! Because there seem to be multiple websites you can register you tree with, it is possible she has been registered earlier by someone else, If so we would like to know where we can find this information.
We hope that Big Berta will live at least another 300 years and that she's admired like we admire her.
Have a wonderful rest of the weekend everyone!
Ps we are waiting for better weather to finish the outside paint job on the back of the house.
